Will

by Writer

I was going through my letters that I received while I was at boot camp and I found this poem I wrote. I completely forgot about it… Until now

I hear laughing in the distance

Just beyond the trees

I sit upon the sand bags

Hearing the whispers of the breeze

The wind is warm but my heart is cold

It slowly retreats insides it’s fold

I once was strong

I once was bold

I once was shining, glowing gold

The shine is gone, at least for now

I’m wearing down behind the plow

The strength that once was LORD endowed

is now forever gone

I’ll sing my song in my dreams alone

I’ll let you reap what I have sown

Tell me how much you think I’ve grown

My will is failing now.
